What images are you going to use in your book trailer video? A book trailer video is by definition, a visual medium, so you are going to need some good quality images to make your video. My novel, The Queen’s Favourite, is historical fiction, which features real places and real people, so where possible, I would visit historical sites and museums, and take photos of items and buildings of interest and which had some relevance to my story. Some of these photos would find their way into my book trailer video. You can do the same.
An alternative would be to buy images from the various online photo archives and libraries, such as iStockphoto, Shutterstock and Getty Images. However, it is vital that when you buy images from these sites, you are buying the right to use them for commercial purposes and that you do not have to pay any royalties. There is a handy guide I found at Stockphotorights which tells you which images are licensed for commercial rights and are royalty-free etc. All in all, if you can use photos or even film footage that you have taken yourself, it is much easier as you don’t have to worry about other people owning the right to them.
